Marina Minic
Solar Programs Administrator @Citizens Utility Board
Marina joined CUB in February 2022 after graduating from UW Madison with a chemistry and environmental studies degree. She helps coordinate the Grow Solar Chicagoland program and educates consumers about clean and affordable energy. Marina is interested in community organizing and enjoys building relationships with people and organizations across the state. In her free time, she enjoys drinking coffee and spending time outside.
Mia Korinke
Campaign Mobilization Director @Climate Jobs Illinois
Mia is the go-to for CJI’s political engagement and community outreach plans to implement and promote CEJA’s Carbon Free Schools program, designed to assist Illinois public schools with increasing energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and moving toward carbon-free energy usage by 2030. She last served as a Strategic Researcher for the American Federation of Teachers, where she helped lead organizing strategies, corporate research, and media outreach efforts for the union. Mia holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Benedict & St. John’s University.
MeLena Hessel
Associate Director of Policy @Elevate
MeLena Hessel is the Associate Director of Policy at Elevate. Elevate is a non-profit that designs & runs programs to cut costs, protect people & the environment, & ensure that those who need it most benefit from using clean & efficient energy. Hessel's focus is putting recently passed climate legislation in Illinois into action. She works with various stakeholders, including frontline organizations, government offices, & private companies, to help people & communities all over the state access clean energy, clean water, workforce development, & healthy housing. Before joining Elevate, she was a Senior Policy Advocate at the Environmental Law & Policy Center (ELPC). She focused on clean energy access & development, co-facilitated the Illinois Solar for All working group, & revitalized the Chicago Pedway. She also worked in global research & strategy at LaSalle Investment Management & for the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory at the U.S Army Corps of Engineers.
