Oil and Gas Air Pollution: What Texas should be doing on flaring, venting and methane emissions and isn't doing.
Texas is the leading oil and gas state in the nation, and yet, unlike other oil and gas producing states, the state has done precious little to limit flaring, venting and methane emissions. Just this month the Railroad Commission of Texas passed a rule tweak on flaring that improves data but does nothing to reduce pollution, while TCEQ updated their "General Operating Permits" for oil and gas air emissions, but refused to take action on methane and other pollutants, even as the Trump Administration rolled back standards. Come hear what other oil and gas states like New Mexico are already doing, and what Texas could be doing as a state from the Sierra Club, Environment Texas, Environmental Defense Fund, and our friends in New Mexico. We will also be joined by newly re-elected State Representative Jon Rosenthal who serves on the Energy Resources Committee of the Texas House of Representatives. We will also discuss recommendations on what to do next.
